Do any of you remember Bill Cosby’s Kids Say the DarndestThings?
I have the pleasure of working with hundreds of imaginative kids. Yesterday I was teaching 1st and 2nd graders about Hygiene. When asked what they thought it was, this is the response I got…
Boy 1: Hygiene! It is an intergalactic take over of an alien species!
Boy 2: No! I KNOW! I’ve learned this before…it’s a PROTIEN!
When I explained it was about their cleanliness, they asked me what that was too!
Do we as parents miss the bubble boat when explaining to our kids about being clean and tidy? I hope there are just other choice words beinging used and that the concept is not being ignored or forgotten.
Good hygiene makes us as adults feel confident, proud, and put together, right? Good hygiene is also important so we do not offend others around us and to prevent us from feeling shame about our scent or appearance. From bathing to the clothes to wear, let’s be sure to instill this process in our children so they go out into the world feeling polished. Let their outside reflect their beautiful inside.
Want to learn the most important steps to hygiene, Manners In Momentum offers it as part of the curriculum.
